Twisted Pair Output and Input
Terminating shielded cable
CAT 5/5e/6/7 twisted pair cable is not provided with the transmitter/receiver pair. You
may purchase cables that have been precut to the required length and terminated to the
T586A or T586B standard (see the table on the next page).
Alternatively, purchase bulk cable and use the RJ-45 connectors (provided) to prepare your
own terminated cables as described below.
NOTE: The transmitter and receiver pair works with unshielded twisted pair (UTP) or
shielded twisted pair (STP) cables. To ensure FCC Class A and CE compliance,
and for optimum performance, STP cables are recommended.
Do not use skew-free cable. Extron strongly recommends DTP26 cable,
especially when using high resolutions such as 1920x1200, 1600x1200, or
2560x1600. DTP26 cable is available as non-plenum (part number 22-214-03)
or plenum (part number 22-215-03).
1.
Cut the cables to the required length. All three cables should be the same length.
2.
Remove about 7/8 inch (2.2 cm) of the outer coat. If using STP cable, peel back the
shielding and fold it over the top of the outer coat.
