Fact Sheet
DusTreat* DC9119E
Dust Control Binding Agent
Provides excellent control of fugitive emissions
Designed for use in liquid or foam spray systems
Reduces inventory losses
Maintains control of dust emissions through mul-
tiple transfer points and active storage piles
Effective on coal, mineral ores, and other bulk sol-
id materials
Description and Use
DusTreat* DC9119E is a concentrated dust control
binding agent formulated to control fugitive dust
throughout a typical material handling system, in ad-
dition to active storage piles. The application of
DusTreat DC9119E agglomerates fine dusting materi-
als to larger bulk solids, thus reducing the tendency
for these fines to become airborne. Use of this product
for dust suppression is covered by U.S. Patent
5,194,174 and other foreign patents.
Typical Applications
Fugitive dust is typically generated during the transfer
and storage of bulk solid materials. These dust emis-
sions can be a safety hazard, an environmental nui-
sance, and can increase maintenance of material
handling and other plant equipment. In addition, these
emissions can represent substantial loss of valuable
material.
Fugitive emissions can be significantly reduced by ap-
plying DusTreat DC9119E as a water solution through
spray systems at a material transfer point. When
moisture addition is a concern or the best available
technology is requisite, DusTreat DC9119E can be ap-
plied as a foam. The residual effects of DusTreat
DC9119E eliminate the need to apply the treatment at
more than one location. Therefore, DusTreat DC9119E
is a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the
multi-application approach typical in most water
spray systems.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
Proper treatment levels for DusTreat DC9119E depend
on many factors such as the operating characteristics
of the system and severity of the problem. This prod-
uct should be used in accordance with control param-
eters GE establishes for a specific application.
DusTreat DC9119E should be fed directly from a
closed (vented) shipping container to minimize atmos-
pheric contact. For consistent optimum performance,
use a tubular diaphragm pump or a positive dis-
placement or proportioning pump designed for high
viscosity materials. The suction piping should be en-
larged to a 1 inch (25.4 mm) minimum and discharge
to a 0.75 inch (19.1 mm) minimum. Recommended
materials of construction include PVC, high density
cross-linked polyethylene, Teflon, Type 304 or 316
stainless steel, and Hastalloy C. (
Teflon is a registered
trademark of DuPont.
) Low carbon steel is not compat-
ible with this product.
When sprayed as a water solution, a static mixer can
enhance performance. When applied as a foam, use
GE Acufeed* foam equipment.
