Chest harness to be used only in conjunction with a seat
harness
WARNING

It is your responsibility to foresee situations requiring rescue so
that a rescue may be immediately carried out in case of difficulties
encountered while using this equipment. This implies an adequate
training in the necessary rescue techniques.
Nomenclature of parts
(1) Sternal attachment point, (2) DoubleBack adjustment buckle,
(3) Connection strap to ventral attachment point of seat harness,
(4) Shoulder straps, (5) Webbing retainer.

Inspection, points to verify
Before each use
Check the webbing at the attachment points, at the adjustment
buckles and at the safety stitching. Look for cuts in the webbing,
wear and damage due to use, to heat, and to contact with
chemical products, etc...
Be particularly careful to check for cut threads.
Verify that the buckles operate properly.
Consult the details of the inspection procedure to be carried out
for each item of PPE on the Web at www.petzl.com/ppe or on the
PETZL PPE CD-ROM.
Contact PETZL if there is any doubt about the condition of this
product.
During each use
It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the product
and its connections to the other equipment in the system. Make
sure that the various pieces of equipment in the system are
correctly positioned with respect to each other.
Compatibility
Verify the compatibility of the harness with the other elements of
the fall arrest or work positioning systems.
The instructions for use for each item of equipment used in
conjunction with this product must be respected.
WARNING, the attachment points of your harness can act as a
lever on the gate of a connector. When a sudden tension comes
onto the rope and/or an external pressure on the locking system,
and the connector is poorly positioned, the locking sleeve can
break and the gate can open itself. To reduce this risk, check that
your connectors are properly positioned each time the system is
loaded (lanyard, descender, etc.).
Also make sure your connectors are compatible with the
attachment points (shape, size, etc.).
How to use this equipment
The CHESTER chest harness attaches to the NAVAHO MINIBOSS,
NAVAHO VARIO, NAVAHO VARIOBELT or FALCON to create a full-
body harness with an EN 361 sternal fall-arrest attachment point.
The CHESTER is a component of a complete fall-arrest system
and must not be used alone.

Pass the strap (3) through the ventral attachment point of the seat
harness and fasten the end with the DoubleBack buckle. Adjust
the torso using the adjustment buckles.
Your harness must be adjusted to fit snugly.

The clearance below the user must be sufficient to prevent the
user from striking any obstacle in case of a fall.
WARNING
The anchor point of the system should preferably be located
above the user’s position and must conform to the requirements
of the EN 795 standard, in particular the minimum strength of the
anchor must be 10 kN.
Avoid contact with sharp or abrasive surfaces and objects.

Contrôle, points à vérifier
Avant toute utilisation
Vérifiez les sangles au niveau des boucles d’accrochage, de
réglage et des coutures de sécurité. Surveillez les coupures,
usures et dommages dus à l’utilisation, à la chaleur, aux produits
chimiques etc.
Attention aux fils coupés.
Vérifiez le bon fonctionnement des boucles.

Pendant l’utilisation
Il est important de contrôler régulièrement l’état du produit et
de ses connexions avec les autres équipements du système.
Assurez-vous du bon positionnement des équipements les uns
par rapport aux autres.
Compatibilité
Vérifier la compatibilité du harnais avec les autres composants du
système d’arrêt des chutes ou du système de maintien au travail.
Les instructions d’utilisation définies dans les notices de chaque
équipement associé à ce produit doivent être respectées.
ATTENTION, les anneaux d’accrochage de votre harnais peuvent
faire levier sur le doigt du connecteur. Lors d’une tension brusque
de la corde et / ou d’un choc sur le système de verrouillage
combiné à une mauvaise position du mousqueton, la bague de
verrouillage peut casser et le doigt s’ouvrir. Pour supprimer ce
risque, veillez au bon positionnement des connecteurs lors de
chaque mise en tension du système (longe, descendeur…).
Veillez aussi à la compatibilité des connecteurs avec les anneaux
(formes, dimensions…).
Mode d’emploi
Le harnais torse CHESTER associé à un NAVAHO MINIBOSS,
NAVAHO VARIO, NAVAHO VARIOBELT ou FALCON transforme
ces harnais en harnais complet antichute avec attache sternale
EN 361.
Composant d’un système d’arrêt de chute, le CHESTER ne doit
pas être utilisé seul.

Passez la sangle (3) dans l’attache ventrale du harnais cuissard
et refermez la boucle DoubleBack. Ajustez le torse à l’aide des
boucles de réglage.
Votre harnais doit être ajusté proche du corps.

La hauteur libre sous l’utilisateur doit être suffisante pour qu’il ne
heurte pas d’obstacle en cas de chute.
AVERTISSEMENT
L’ancrage du système doit être de préférence situé au-dessus de
la position de l’utilisateur et doit répondre aux exigences de la
norme dispositifs d’ancrage EN 795, en particulier la résistance
minimum de l’ancrage doit être de 10 kN.
Évitez les frottements sur des matériaux abrasifs ou pièces
coupantes.

Benennung der Teile
(1) Sternale Befestigungsöse, (2) DoubleBack-Einstellschnalle,
(3) Verbindungsriemen zur ventralen Befestigungsöse des
Sitzgurts, (4) Träger, (5) Schlaufenhalter.
Zu kontrollierende Punkte
Vor jedem Einsatz:
Überprüfen Sie das Gurtband an den Befestigungsösen, an den
Einstellschnallen und die Sicherheitsnähte. Stellen Sie fest, ob das
Gurtband Schnitte, Abrieb oder sonstige Schäden aufweist, die auf
Abnutzung, Hitze oder Kontakt mit chemischen Produkten usw.
zurückzuführen sind.
Achten Sie besonders auf durchtrennte oder abgenutzte Nähte.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Schnallen richtig funktionieren.
Die genauen Anleitungen zur Überprüfung der jeweiligen PSA-
Komponenten (Persönliche Schutzausrüstung) finden Sie unter
www.petzl.com/ppe oder auf der PETZL PSA-CD-ROM. Sollten
irgendwelche Zweifel hinsichtlich des Zustands eines Produkts
bestehen, senden Sie es zur Überprüfung an PETZL.
Während des Gebrauchs
Es ist unerlässlich, den Zustand des Produkts und seiner
Verbindungen mit anderen Ausrüstungsgegenständen im
System regelmäßig zu überprüfen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die
einzelnen Ausrüstungsgegenstände im System richtig zueinander
positioniert sind.
Kompatibilität
Überprüfen Sie die Kompatibilität des Gurtes mit den anderen
Komponenten des Auffangsystems und/oder des Systems zur
Arbeitsplatzpositionierung.
Die Gebrauchsanleitungen für jeden Ausrüstungsgegenstand, der
zusammen mit dem CHESTER verwendet wird, müssen unbedingt
eingehalten werden.
WARNUNG: Die Befestigungsösen Ihres Gurtes können auf
den Schnapper eines Karabiners eine Hebelwirkung ausüben.
Wenn auf das Seil Zugbelastung ausgeübt wird und/oder das
Verriegelungssystem stark belastet wird, und der Karabiner ist
ungünstig positioniert, kann die Verriegelungshülse brechen
und sich der Schnapper selbständig öffnen. Um dieses
Risiko zu vermindern, überprüfen Sie vor jeder Belastung
des Systems (Verbindungsmittel, Abseilgerät usw.), ob die
Verbindungselemente richtig ausgerichtet sind.
Stellen Sie außerdem sicher, dass die Verbindungselemente mit
den Befestigungsösen kompatibel sind (Form, Größe usw.).
Gebrauchsanleitung
Der CHESTER-Brustgurt wird mit dem NAVAHO MINIBOSS,
NAVAHO VARIO, NAVAHO VARIOBELT oder FALCON verbunden,
um einen vollständigen Auffanggurt mit einer sternalen
Auffangöse gemäß EN 361 zu erhalten. Der CHESTER ist
Bestandteil eines umfassenden Auffangsystems. Er darf nicht
allein verwendet werden.

Führen Sie den Riemen (3) durch die ventrale Auffangöse des
Sitzgurtes und fädeln Sie das Ende durch die DoubleBack-
Schnalle. Stellen Sie den Brustumfang mithilfe der
Einstellschnallen ein.
Der Gurt sollte gut für Ihre Körperform eingestellt sein und eng
anliegen.

Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Sturzraum unter dem Benutzer
ausreicht, so dass dieser bei einem Sturz nicht auf ein Hindernis
treffen kann.
WARNUNG
Der Anschlagpunkt des Systems sollte oberhalb des Benutzers
angebracht sein und den Anforderungen der Norm EN 795
entsprechen. Die minimale Festigkeit eines Anschlagpunkts muss
unbedingt 10 kN betragen.
Vermeiden Sie Kontakt mit rauen oder scharfkantigen
Oberflächen.
