Browser security
Security features may be required for
some services, such as banking
services. For such connections you
need security certificates and possibly
a security module which may be
available on your SIM card. For more
information, contact your service
provider.
Security module
The security module can contain
certificates as well as private and
public keys. The security module is to
improve security services for functions
requiring browser connection, and
allows you to use a digital signature.
The certificates are saved in the
security module by the service
provider.
In the
Services
menu, select
Settings
,
Security settings
and
Security module
settings
. Select
•
Security module details
to view the
security module’s title, status,
manufacturer and serial number.
•
Module PIN request
and
On
to set
the phone to ask for the module
PIN when using services provided
by the security module.
•
Change module PIN
to change the
module PIN, if allowed by the
security module.
Certificates
The phone supports three kinds of
certificates: server certificates,
authority certificates and user
certificates. You may receive these
certificates from a service provider.
Authority certificates and user
certificates may also be saved in the
security module by the service
provider. For details and availability,
contact your service provider.
When using a server certificate, the
security indicator
is displayed
during a connection, if the data
transmission between the phone and
the gateway (identified by the
IP
address
in the
Edit active service
settings
) is encrypted. However, the
security indicator does not indicate
that the data transmission between
the gateway and the content server
(place where the requested resource is
saved) is secure. It is up to the service
provider to secure the data
transmission between the gateway
and the content server.
