Connecting up
Be su re to turn off the power and unplug the power cord
f rom the power outlet whenever making or changing
connections.
Afte r connecting, make the settings at the Setup
Navigator menu according to the type of cable
connected (
page 19).
Also refer to the operating instructions of the device
being connected.
Connecting using an
HDMI cable
The audio and video signals can be t ransferred to HDMI-
com patible devices as digital signals with no loss of
sound o r video quality.
Note
• Make the settings at the Setup Navigator menu
acco rding to connected HDMI-compatible device
( page 19).
• The HDMI indicator on the player’s front panel lights
when an HDMI-com patible device is connected to an
HDMI OUT terminal (page 12).
• 1080 p video signals may not be output, depending on
the HDMI cable being used.
About HDMI
This player incorporates High-Definition Multimedia
Inte rface (HDMI™) technology.
HDMI, the HDMI Logo and High-Definition Multimedia
Interface are trademarks or registered trademarks of HDMI
Licensing, LLC.
The player supports Deep Color.
The conventional players can transmit a video signal with
8 bit colo r depth in the YCbCr 4:4:4 or RGB formats, the
players supporting Deep Color can transmit a video
signal with a colo
r bit depth of greater than 8 bits per
colo r component. Subtle color gradations can be
reproduced when connected to a TV that supports Deep
Colo
r.
This product is compatible with “x.v.Color” that have the
ca pability to realize a wide-gamut color space based on
the xvYCC s pecifications.
Playing video signals confo rming to “xvYCC” standards
on this player when connected to an “x.v.Color”-
com patible TV, etc., expands color reproduction
ca pabilities, allowing natural colors to be reproduced
mo re faithfully than ever.
“x.v.Colo r” is a promotion name given to the products that
have the ca pability to realize a wide-gamut color space
based on the inte rnational standard specifications
defined as xvYCC.
“x.v.Color” and are trademarks of Sony
Corporation.

Linea r PCM audio signals meeting the following
conditions can be out put:
– Sam pling frequency: 32 kHz to 192 kHz
– Numbe r of channels: Up to 8 (up to 6 for a 192 kHz
sam pling frequency)

 About the HDMI High Speed
Transmission
This player outputs 1080/60p and Deep Color video
signals. If you r TV supports 1080/60p or Deep Color
signals, use a High S peed HDMI™ cable in order to take
advantage of the maximum performance the player and
TV can offe r. Also set HDMI High Speed Transmission to
On (page 39).
High S peed HDMI™ cables are tested to carry signals up
to 1080 p. 1080/24p, 1080/60i, 1080/60p and 720/60p video
signals that a re capable of Deep Color can also be
ca rried.
Note
• Set HDMI High Speed Transmission to Off when
using an HDMI cable othe r than a High Speed
HDMI™ cable (a Standa rd HDMI™ cable).
