8 Answering Machine Greeting
8.1 Recording your
greeting message
You can record your own greeting message for
TAM/FAX mode, for a maximum of 16 (default) or
60 seconds in length. We recommend you
record a message of less than 12 seconds to
make it easier to receive faxes.
1 Press {MENU}.
2 Press {#}, then {5}{5}.
3 Press {A} or {B} to select “ RECORD”.
4 Press {SET}.
L “ PLEASE PICK UP” is displayed.
5 Lift the handset.
L A long beep will sound.
6 Speak clearly.
L The display will count up the recording
time.
7 To stop recording, press {STOP}.
8 Replace the handset.
L The unit will repeat your message.
9 Press {MENU}.
Note:
L You can change the maximum TAM/FAX
greeting message recording time to 60
seconds (feature #54 on page 65).
–
If you change the setting to 60 seconds,
we recommend that you tell the caller in
your TAM/FAX greeting message to press
{*}{
9} before starting fax transmission.
– If you change the setting from 60 seconds
to 16 seconds, your greeting message will
be deleted. The pre-recorded greeting
message will be played when a call is
received.
To check the greeting message
1. Press {MENU}.
2. Press {#}, then {5}{5}.
3. Press {A} or {B} to select “ CHECK”.
4. Press {SET}.
L The unit will play the greeting message.
5. Press {MENU}.
8.1.1 Erasing your recorded
greeting message
1 Press {MENU}.
2 Press {#}, then {5}{5}.
3 Press {A} or {B} to select “ ERASE”.
4 Press {SET}.
5 Press {MENU}.
Note:
L If you erase your TAM/FAX greeting
message, the pre-recorded greeting
message will be played when a call is
received.
8.1.2 Pre-recorded greeting
message
If you do not record a greeting message, one of
two pre-recorded messages will be played when
a call is received, depending on the caller’s
recording time (feature #10 on page 62).
To check the pre-recorded greeting
1 Press {MENU}.
2 Press {#}, then {5}{5}.
3 Press {A} or {B} to select “ CHECK”.
4 Press {SET}.
L The unit will play the greeting message.
5 Press {MENU}.
– When the recording time is set to “ 1
MINUTE” or “3 MINUTES”, the unit will play
a greeting message asking callers to send
faxes or leave messages.
– When the recording time is set to “ GREET
ONLY”, the unit will play a greeting message
asking callers to call again.
