Subaddressing Transmission
The Confidential transmission and Relay Request functions explained
in the previous two sections can only be used when the other fax
machine is also a Sharp machine. Subaddressing transmission allows
you to use these functions even when the other fax machine is not a
Sharp machine.
The FO-6700 supports the following Subaddressing functions:
♦ Confidential transmission (sending a confidential fax that can only
be printed out when the recipient enters a confidential passcode).
♦ Relay Request (sending a document to a fax machine and having
that machine relay the document to a group of end receiving
machines
— this reduces communications costs if the relay machine
is closer to the end receiving machines than your machine).
To use either of these functions, the receiving machine must support
Subaddressing reception, and in particular must support
Subaddressing confidential reception or Subaddressing relay
broadcast. The receiving machine does not need to be a Sharp
machine.
Note: The FO-6700 only supports Subaddressing transmission. It does
not support Subaddressing reception.
Creating a Subaddressing transmission table
To fax a document using Subaddressing transmission, you must first
create a Subaddressing transmission table. This table contains the
Subaddress that identifies the operation and a passcode (if required).
When you are ready to fax, you can specify the operation by simply
entering the 2-digit number of the Subaddress transmission table. This
saves you the trouble of entering the Subaddress and your password
each time you want to perform that operation.
