O = Optional fixed
This option specifies fixed length, variable length, or optional
fixed length for a field.
Fixed A field that cannot be left blank during data
entry. The operator must fill all the
positions.
Variable An optional field. During data entry, the
operator may enter any number of
characters up to the maximum length. Or,
the operator may press
E
to leave the
field blank. For example, if the maximum
length is 5, the operator can enter 0-5
characters.
Optional fixed Also an optional field. During data entry,
the operator may enter any number of
characters up to the maximum length. Or,
the operator may press
