Chapter 1: Overview
Call Support
Call Relay SP supports up to 720 simultaneous VoIP calls between endpoints. If required, additional call
capacity is available.
SNMP Support
The Call Relay SP supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), the standard protocol used to
exchange network information between different types of networks. The Call Relay SP acts as an SNMP agent
to receive commands and issue responses to the network manager. The network manager will then be able to
perform certain functions, such as generating and sending traps.
Call Relay SP Communication
The Call Relay SP provides a single IP address for accessing the public IP network.
System Monitoring
There are many different ways to monitor the health of the unit, including LEDs and alarms.
Internal alarms indicate there is a problem with the unit. You can view active system alarms through the Com-
mand Line Interface (CLI), the Alarm Manager via RS-232 interface, or Telnet. Each alarm tells you specifi-
cally what problem the unit is encountering.
Easy Connect to Console
Plugging a DB-9 cable provided by Quintum between a PC and the unit’s asynchronous RS-232 port will con-
nect the unit and get you up and running. Through this port, you are able to configure an IP address for the
Call Relay SP portal.
Configuration
You configure the Call Relay SP via Command Line Interface (CLI). The CLI is a powerful telnet-based sys-
tem which enables you to configure data about the portal, such as IP addresses and Call Relay SP feature
attributes. For more information about CLI configuration, see Command Line Interface (CLI) document you
received with your unit.
