6 PPP and MP configuration

After you configure the packet compression or header compression, the configuration takes effect only
after the
restart
command, or the
shutdown
and the
undo shutdown
commands are used. If you apply
the compression to MP, you must use the
restart
command, or the
shutdown
and the
undo shutdown
commands on all the interfaces bound by MP.

Enabling IPHC compression on the interface
Do as follows on the routers:
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view appears.
Step 2 Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view appears.
Step 3 Run:
ppp compression iphc
The command enables IPHC on the interface.
Step 4 (Optional) Run:
ppp compression iphc [ nonstandard | rtp-connections rtp-connections | tcp-connections
tcp-connections ]
The command configures the parameters related to IPHC.
Step 5 Run:
restart
The command restarts the interface.
