PLC Programming for GETN & RDCI PAC Blocks
5/24/96
each uses non-volatile memory (NVRAM); the RDCI block writes directly to
NVRAM, while the GETN block will only write to NVRAM if a save
procedure (PCDU function number 994) is executed. If the save procedure is
not executed after the GETN block value has been changed, the new value will
be lost when power to the drive is turned off, and NVRAM will then contain
either the previously saved value, or the factory default value.
Below shows the relationship between a RDCI PAC block and the
initialization tables for external communication. In this example the RDCI
block is designated as block number 100 in the “B” scan. Both the PLC and
RDU initialization tables refer to this RDCI by its function number (PCDU
function number 115). The particular attributes of this RDCI block are
described in the PCDU table entry shown below the block. The REMOTE
DISPLAY LIST establishes the initialization to the remote display units. Each
PCDU function number can be defined to initialize one or several remote
display units.
The PLC INITIALIZATION table is described below:
• PLC Node — the node number the gateway is on the MicroTrac LAN.
Set by the DIP switch settings on the MicroTrac LAN card in the gateway.
Usually set to 200, but can range from 200 to 209.
• PLC In Chan — the simulated input register card location on the Modicon
network. Number designate the drop and slot for that 8 channel input
register card (B865). In this case simulated card is in drop 2, slot 1, and
always rack 2.
