Clock setting

CLK>

***

Sets the synchronization with external clock and clock output sent
to a Super Audio CD transport or a source device that supports word
sync.
The factory default is “PLL1”.

PLL1

Word sync is not used, and master clock is generated by the PLL
circuit following the input digital signal.
This allows operation with support for a wide range of clock
signals.

PLL2

Word sync is not used, and master clock is generated by the PLL
circuit following the input digital signal. Furthermore, using a PLL
circuit that employs a built-in high-precision crystal oscillator, jitter
is reduced in the transmission of audio signals as a result of using
two PLL circuits with different characteristics.

< The built-in high-precision crystal oscillator is specified with a

narrow frequency variation range in order to increase performance.
For this reason, if the clock precision of the digital audio source
device exceeds a variation range of ±5 ppm, it cannot be locked. In
this case, select the “PLL1” mode.

W_OUT

When this unit's WORD OUT connector and the word input
connector of the digital audio source device are connected, the
source device is synchronized to this unit's clock, and it will operate
with this unit's high-precision crystal oscillator as the master clock.
Set the frequency of the output clock using the clock output
frequency item.

< You must connect the source device with this unit's WORD OUT

connector and activate word sync to use this.

W_IN

Word clock is input from a clock generator through this unit's
WORD IN connector, and operation occurs with word sync.

< The digital audio source device must also be connected to the

clock generator or this unit's WORD OUT connector and operating
with word sync.

< The input impedance of the WORD IN connector is 75 Ω, and input

of square wave TTL level signals is possible.

10M_IN

Use when a clock generator is connected to this unit's 10M IN
connector and 10MHz clock is input to operate the unit with clock
synchronization.

< The digital audio source device must also be connected to the

clock generator or this unit's WORD OUT connector, and operating
with clock synchronization.

< The input impedance of the 10M IN connector is 50 Ω, and input of

sine wave signals with an amplitude of 0.5–1.0 Vrms is possible.

MCK_IN

Use when a clock generator is connected to this unit's WORD IN
connector and clock is input at 512X this unit's master clock, which
is either 22.5792 MHz for 44.1 kHz or 24.576 MHz for 48 kHz to
operate the unit with clock synchronization.
When 22.5792MHz clock is input, audio signals of 44.1 kHz, 88.2
kHz, 176.4 kHz and 352.8 kHz can be input.
When 24.576MHz clock is input, audio signals of 48 kHz, 96 kHz, 192
kHz and 384 kHz can be input.

< The digital audio source device must also be connected to the

clock generator or this unit's WORD OUT connector and operating
with word sync.

< Be careful during music playback because loud noises could be

output from the speakers if the clock generator power is turned
off or the word connection is broken, interrupting the clock signal.
As a further precaution, do not playback a source until you are
sure your WORD Sync is locked on, or is turned off, based on your
preference.
