Side effects
In rare cases, ingredients of ExciTE F DSC may cause
sensitization. In such cases, the product should cease to be
used.
Interactions
Materials containing eugenol or clove oil may inhibit the
polymerization of ExciTE F DSC.
Activation of the Soft Touch™ Single Dose vessel
– Place the Single Dose unit on a firm surface.
– Press the applicator down until a noticeable resistance
is overcome. The applicator brush and the initiators get
in contact with the adhesive solution.
Note
For hygienic reasons, the ExciTE F DSC Single Dose
vessel should only be used for one patient
(prevention of cross-contamination between patients).
Dispose of residual activated ExciTE F DSC material after
application!
Application
Indirect restorations
1. Prepare the surfaces of the composite or ceramic
restoration according to the instructions of the
manufacturer.
2. Apply phosphoric acid gel (e.g. Total Etch) to the
prepared enamel and then flow the etchant onto the
prepared dentin. The etchant should be left to react on
the enamel for 15-30 seconds and on the dentin for 10-
15 seconds. Following this, thoroughly remove all
etchant gel with a vigorous water spray for at least 5
seconds. Excess moisture should be removed leaving the
dentin surface with a glossy wet appearance (wet
bonding). This can be done with either an air gun, a dry
brush, a foam pellet or other lint-free absorbents.
Do not overdry the dentin!
3. Apply ExciTE F DSC to the enamel and dentin and
agitate the adhesive on the prepared surfaces for at
least 10 seconds. Make sure that all the cavity walls are
completely covered.
4. Disperse ExciTE F DSC to a thin layer with a weak
stream of air, thereby removing any excess.
Important note: Avoid pooling of the adhesive on the
cavity floor, as this can compromise the accuracy of fit of
the definitive restoration.
A glossy appearance shows that the tooth surface is
completely sealed.
5. Pre-curing of ExciTE F DSC is not necessary if dual-
curing luting composites are used. If pre-curing of the
adhesive is preferred, ExciTE F DSC should be
polymerized for 10 seconds at a light intensity of more
than 500 mW/cm
2
(with e.g. bluephase using the LOW
mode).
6. Following this, seat the restoration using a light-/ dual-
curing luting material (e.g. Variolink
®
II) and light-cure
according to the instructions of the manufacturer.
Important note: Application of the luting composite to
the cavity surfaces conditioned with activated bonding
agent may result in accelerated curing and may thus
compromise the accuracy of fit of the restoration.
Direct Restorations
A. Self- and dual-curing composite materials
(e.g. core build-up composites)
1. Etching of the cavity with phosphoric acid gel (e.g. Total
Etch) and application of ExciTE F DSC is done similarly
as with indirect restorations.
2. Pre-curing of ExciTE F DSC is not necessary if self- or
dual-curing filling materials are used.
If pre-curing of the adhesive is preferred, the same
polymerization procedure as with indirect restorations
applies.
3. Mix the composite (e.g. MultiCore) according to the
instructions for use and apply into the cavity.
B. Light-curing composite materials
(composites such as Tetric EvoCeram, compomers
such as Compoglass
®
F)
1. Etching of the cavity with phosphoric acid gel (e.g. Total
Etch) and application of ExciTE F DSC is done similarly
as with indirect restorations.
