Corrosion

Check the paint, and look for possible corrosion especially at footings,
structural tie points and ground rods.


If any of the above conditions are noticed, action must be taken to correct the
situation
.

4.9 Troubleshooting

This sub-section contains some symptoms that may be encountered in the displays.
This list does not include every possible symptom, but does represent common
situations that may occur.

Symptom/Condition

Possible Cause/Remedy

One or more LEDs on a single
module fail to light.

Replace/check ribbon cables on the module.

Replace the module.

One or more LEDs on a single
module fail to turn off.

Replace/check ribbon cables on module.

Replace the module.

Note: LED in bottom right hand corner will flash
indicating the display has power and firmware, but
no message has been sent.

A section of the display is not
working. The section extends all the
way to the right side of the display.

Check/replace the ribbon cable to the first non-
working module.

Check power to the modules.

Move or replace the first module to the left of the
first module that is not working.

Move or replace the second module that is not
working.

Check or replace the power supply assembly on
the first module that is not working.

One row of modules does not work
or is distorted.

Check/replace ribbon cable to first module.

Replace or move first module.

Check for bent pins on module and controller.

Try the output from a different row on the
controller.

Replace controller.

Check the fuses in the power termination box.

A group of modules, (a column of
block) which share the same power
supply assembly, fail to work.

Check the wire connections at the power supply.

Measure the power (3.6 VDC) to the first module.

Replace the power supply assembly.

Entire display fails to work.

Check for proper line voltage into the power
termination panel.

Check fuse in power termination box

Check for correct power to controller (10 VAC)
and modules (3.6 VDC).

Disconnect signal cables to the controller, and
check for power to controller.

Check/replace the ribbon cable from the controller
to the modules.

Check the voltage settings on the power supplies.

Check/replace the signal cable to the controller.

Replace the controller.

Verify proper use of the software in the operation
manual (ED13530).

Temperature always reads –196F/-
127C degrees F/0 degrees C.

Check temperature sensor connections.

Check for bent pins or misconnection on quick
connect cable.
