D.1.3 Controller Installation

The controller need not be located near the display driver assembly. However, two
cables must be connected between the indoor controller and the display driver
assembly. Refer to Figure 8 and Drawing B-99250.

1. Open the controller enclosure by removing the four (4) screws from the blank end

panel and sliding the top cover panel out.

2. Set SW6 and SW8 to on position for indoor control and 7/8 segment mode. (refer

to Drawing A-87841 in Section 3 for switch location)

3. Route the 2-cond. cable (Daktronics part number W-1077) through the grommet

labeled “SIGNAL” and connect to TB1 on the controller (refer to Figure 8 and
Drawing A-59425 and A-87845 in Appendix A). Pins 1 and 2 are red and
black respectively.

4. Refer to Figure 8 to determine the location of TB31. Connect the opposite end

of the cable to the un-used side of TB31. Pins 1 and 2 are red and black
respectively.

5. Route the 5-cond. cable (Daktronics part number W-1007) through the grommet

labeled “SIGNAL” and connect to TB2 on the controller. Wire the colors per
Drawing A-59425 and A-87845 in Apppendix A.

6. Refer to Figure 8 to determine the location of TB5. Connect the opposite end of

the cable to TB5 matching existing colors.

7. Plug one end of the 25 foot, grey modular cable into the DataTime hand held

console.

8. Plug the opposite end into jack labeled “Console” on the controller enclosure, and

close enclosure, by following step 1 in reverse order.

9. Plug the wall transformer cord into the jack labeled “Power 12 VAC” on the

controller enclosure.

10. Plug the wall transformer into the outlet. On power-up, the console LCD should

display the word “DATATIME” for a few seconds, shows the software revision
number, then start cycling through the programmed sequence of time and/or
temperature and/or price.
