Replacing a shorted triac

Important notes for service done inside the display:

This service should only be done by qualified service personnel.

Use caution when turning power on to the display while it is open.

Make sure all connectors are plugged back in, all fuses are in place, all fasteners
are secured, all tools are removed, and all wires are held out of the way before the
display is closed up.

5.4.1 Fuse Replacement

Be sure to check the fuses on the driver and controller and not just on the termination
panel. Note: Replace fuses with type and rating specified.

5.4.2 Exchanging a Controller

If the controller is suspected to be malfunctioning, exchange it and test the display
again. Gain access to the displa y (with power OFF). Release the two 1/4-turn
fasteners on the controller enclosure cover and remove the cover. Disconnect the
power plug and the three terminal blocks. Note: Unplug terminal blocks – do not
remove the individual wires. Remove the four nuts holding the controller printed
circuit board in place and remove. Replace with the new controller, secure with the
nuts and plug in all the connectors. With caution, turn the power back ON with the
controller in view so that the LEDs can be checked. If the display is working properly,
close it up.

5.4.3 Exchanging a Lamp Driver

Open the display (with power OFF). Disconnect all the plugs to the lamp driver. Note
proper plug locations as you disconnect them. Remove the wing nuts that hold the
driver in place (not the wing nuts on the driver cover). Remove and replace the
driver. Test with the display open so that the LEDs can be checked. Close up the
display.
