4. The other magnetic plates can now be assembled in a same way. Correct alignment of the plates can
also be recognised when each subsequent plate is fitted. Adjacent plates must attract one another. If
they repel one another, they are wrongly aligned.
5. Finally, remove all the protective plates, and check that the carriage can move freely and smoothly
over the magnetic plates. If there is a noticeable irregularity in the force at the transition from one mag
netic plate to the next, you should check the alignment of the plates.
