Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) is a standards-based VPN that offers flexible solutions
for secure data communications across a public network like the Internet. IPSec is built
around a number of standardized cryptographic techniques to provide confidentiality, data
integrity and authentication at the IP layer.
‹ Detailed Configurations
„ Tunnel mode: Tunnel mode encapsulates the entire IP packet to transmit it
securely. A Tunnel mode is required for gateway services to provide access to
internal systems. Tunnel mode is fundamentally an IP tunnel with authentication
and encryption. This is the most common mode of operation. Tunnel mode is
required for client to client or host to client communications.
