2. Mounting
Surface Ceiling and Wall Mounting (Fig. 3)
1) Attach crossbar to junction box, using screws if needed
(screws not provided).
2) Feed AC supply wires through canopy center hole.
3) Assemble canopy onto main body assembly with (2) screws
(provided) and make electrical connections (refer to
Fig. 4).
4) If a battery is present, connect the battery connector and
re-attach the front cover.
5) Using the (2) screws provided, tighten the canopy to the
crossbar.
Testing and Maintenance
Pressing the Test Button turns off the AC Indicator light and
forces the unit into emergency mode and activates the lamps.
After releasing the Test Button, the fixture returns to normal
operation.
Initial Testing – Allow the unit to charge approximately 1 hour,
then press the test switch to conduct a short discharge test. Al-
low a 24 hour charge before conducting a one hour test.
This is a maintenance free unit, however, periodic inspection
and testing is required. NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, outlines the
following schedule:
Monthly – Insure that the AC indicator is illuminated. Conduct
a 30 second discharge test by depressing the Test Button. The
lamps on the unit should be lit.
Annually – Insure that the AC indicator is illuminated. Con-
duct a full 1

hour discharge test. The unit should operate as
intended for the duration of the test.

Surface End Mounting (Fig. 5)
1) Attach crossbar to junction box, using screws if needed
(screws not provided).
2) Feed AC supply wires through the center hole of the mounting
end cap and then through the canopy (refer to
Fig. 5).
3) Assemble canopy onto main body assembly with (2) screws
(provided) and make electrical connections (refer to
Fig. 4).
4) If a battery is present, connect the battery connector and re-
attach the front cover.
5) Using the (2) screws provided, tighten the canopy to the
crossbar.
3. Attaching Exit Panel
1) Gently insert Exit Panel into the main body assembly (see
Fig. 6). For single-face Exit Panels, make sure the panel is fac-
ing the proper direction.
2) Carefully remove the chevron indicator film, leaving only the
desired directional chevrons (refer to
Fig. 7).
3) The Exit Panel can be adjusted up to 180° in either direction
for optimal visibility (refer to
Fig. 8).
“Written records of testing shall be kept by the owner for inspection by the authority having jurisdiction.”
