An error message appears on the display panel if the upper unit
is open (raised).
Cleaning Rollers with a Cleaning Sheet
Rollers in the transport path are cleaned using the Cleaning
Mode of the User Mode, using a cleaning sheet.
Hint
• Each cleaning sheet is used several times to clean one side of the
rollers.
• Cleaning sheets can be purchased as consumables. For details,
contact your local authorized Canon dealer or service
representative.

■ Performing the Cleaning Mode
Use the following procedure to perform roller cleaning
using the Cleaning Mode.
1. Press the Menu key on the control panel.
The User Mode is activated.
2. Press the [ ] key once to display “Cleaning Mode”.
3. Press [Enter].
The Cleaning Mode is enabled.
4. Press the [ ] key to select [OK], and press [Enter].
The [Bypass Mode] key lights and the Document Feed
Tray rises as the scanner enters the waiting state.
5. Peel the liner from a cleaning sheet.
