OPERATION

KNOW YOUR MOWER

(Referto Figure 6.)

Compare the illustrations on this page with your iawn mower to familiarize yourself with

the location of various controls and adjustments.
The operation of any lawn mower can result in foreign objects being thrown into the

operator’s eyes, causing severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses before
operating the mower, or while performing any adjustments or repairs on it.

WARNING: This control mechanism is a
safety device. Never attempt to bypass its
operations.

The blade control handle must be depressed in order
to operate the unit. Reiease the blade control handle
to stop the engine and the blade.

Drive Clutch Control

Squeeze the drive clutch control to engage the drive
system; release the drive clutch control to disengage
the drive system.

Shift Lever

The shift lever is used to select any one of the six
forward speeds of the mower.

Note: Move the shift lever only when the engine is
running. Changing the shift lever setting with the

engine turned off can cause damage to the mower.

Caster Wheels

Your mower is equipped with caster wheels in front.
The casters can be locked in a straight ahead position
for mowing on hills, or can be unlocked to swivel
freely on level ground.

Throttle Control

The throttle control is used to regulate engine speed.

It cannot be used to stop the engine.

Primer

The primer is used to pump gas into the carburetor.

Use it to start a cold engine, but do not use it to restart
a warm engine after a short shutdown.

Recoil Starter

The recoil starter is attached to the handle. Stand

behind the unit and pull the recoil starter to start the unit.
