Power Zooming

Time Counter with Memory Stop

The time counter appears here during recording

and playback.
• Press the COUNTER RESET button to reset the

counter to “0:00:00" when you start recording
or playing back a tape.

•Press the COUNTER MEM (memory) button to

turn memory stop on or off. An M appears in
front of the time counter when memory stop is
on.

•These displays are not recorded when they

appear.

7 ) Manual Focus Indicators

•Press the FOCUS ON/OFE button to turn off

auto focus and focus manually. The AUTO
LOCK switch must be out of AUTO LOCK.

The ME indicator will appear in the viewfinder
during manual focus.

•MF+ or ME- will appear when using the

MANUAL FOCUS - or + button.

•This display is not recorded when it appears.

• Press the FOCUS ON/OFF button again to

return to auto focus. No indicator appears
when using auto focus.

Cassette Indicator
• 1^ appears if there is no cassette in the

camcorder or if you try to record on a cassette
that has its safety tab closed.

• 1^ appears if there is moisture in the cassette.

9 ) Time and Date Display

• Press the DATE/TIME button to display or

remove the time and date (or date) from the
viewfinder after they are set. The POWER
switch must be in CAM.

• This display will be recorded on the tape

whenever it appears.

• “88:88” appears if the time and date have not

been set or when the clock battery is not
installed correctly or needs replacing.

Power Zoom Buttons
T=Telephoto
W=Wide Angle

The 8:1 motorized zoom lens allows you to
zoom in and out for elose-ups or wide-angle

shots by pressing one of the power zoom
buttons.

• Press the button labeled “T” to move the lens

in the telephoto (close-up) direction.

•Press the button labeled “W” to move the lens

in the wide-angle direction.

Notes:

Image vibration is more noticeable when

zooming in to film close-up shots. If possible use a
tripod or make sure the camcorder is kept steady.

When the camcorder’s POWER switch is placed in
OFF, the zoom ratio will automatically return to full
wide-angle.

When you place the ON/POWER SA VE lever in
POWER SAVE and then back in ON, the zoom
ratio will remain the same as before you put it in
POWER SAVE.
