Model SA-1

detects loud screams occurring within the range of the unit. The unit provides a dry contact closure,

which can activate the auxiliary input of any 100 series Emergency Phone with Auxiliary input option or any 400
series phone.

Proper operation of the unit requires that it be located correctly and that the sensitivity be properly set for the
installation location. The unit is designed for indoor use only. The power supply for the SA-1

requires a 110VAC,

60 Hz outlet. Make sure an outlet is available before beginning the installation.

INSTALLATION

Connecting the Battery:

As shipped, Model SA-1

is fully assembled. The unit has an internal trickle charge battery that is

NOT CONNECTED when the unit is shipped. Follow these steps to connect the back-up battery.

1. Remove the stainless steel faceplate from the unit using the included #4 spanner bit.

2. Carefully cut strain relief strap holding power supply cable and output wires. An additional strap

is taped to the back box for use when reassembling the unit.

3. Carefully remove the unit from the back-box (2 slotted screws in upper left and lower right corners

for chassis). Remove the insulating paper from between the battery terminals and their
connector. Connect battery to connector.

Flush Mounting the Scream Alert:

1. Detach the power supply cable from the SA-1

in order to fully detach the unit from the back box.

The output wires will remain attached to the unit at all times.

2. Attach back box to surface as desired.

3. Feed wires through back-box and reattach the power supply cable to the unit. Put unit back in

back-box and strain relief as before.

4. If using a 100-Series Emergency phone, connect the Brown and Black auxiliary input wires from

the Emergency Phone to the Red and Black wires of the SA-1

. Connect Black to Black and Red

to Brown. On a 400-Series Phone the auxiliary input wires are Brown and Blue. Connect Black
to Blue and Red to Brown. NOTE: The other wires on the Emergency Phone are for auxiliary
outputs and should not be connected to the SA-1

.

5. Reattach the back-box and faceplate.
