Disabling a Forgotten Password
The system's software security features include a system password and an admin password, which are discussed in detail in "Using the System Setup
Program" in your User's Guide. The password jumper enables these password features or disables them and clears any password(s) currently in use.
1.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2.
Open the system. See "
Opening the System
" in "Troubleshooting Your System".
3.
Remove the password jumper plug.

4.
Close the system. See "
Closing the System
" in "Troubleshooting Your System".
5.
Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.
The existing passwords are not disabled (erased) until the system boots with the password jumper plug removed. However, before you assign a new
system and/or admin password, you must install the jumper plug.
6.
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

8.
Install the password jumper plug.

9.
Close the system. See "

10.
Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.
11.
Assign a new system and/or admin password.
