Formatting a Memory Card
You should always format a new memory card or one from which you wish
to erase all images and other data.
1
Use the or button to select [Format] in the [
(Set
up)] menu, then press the FUNC./SET button.
See Selecting Menus and Settings (Basic
Guide: p. 16).
2
Use the or button to select [OK], then press the
FUNC./SET button.
The upper indicator blinks green, and
formatting starts. Wait until the indicator goes
off.
z
Normal formatting begins.
z
To perform a low level format, use the
or
button to select [Low Level Format]
and the
or
button to add a check
mark.
Settings can be made by turning the multi
control dial.
z
To cancel instead of formatting, select
[Cancel] and press the FUNC./SET button.
z
You can stop formatting a card when [Low
Level Format] is selected by pressing the
FUNC./SET button. You can still use a
card without problem when formatting is
halted, but all data will be erased.
z
The capacity of the memory card displayed
after formatting will be less than the rated
capacity of the memory card. This is not a
malfunction of the memory card or camera.
Please note that formatting (initializing) a memory card erases all
data, including protected images and other file types.
