Configuration with Global Drive Control (GDC)
For the communication with the terminal extensions you need the PC system bus
module 2173IB, which is connected to the parallel port of your PC.

Note!
For the handling and installation of the system bus module please
refer to the attached Brief Instructions.
Setting sequence
Note
1.
Connect the PC and the terminal
extension.
Make connection only if the devices are switched off.
2.
Set the address using the DIP
switches on the terminal extension.
Setting:
The address must be > 0. When the address = 0, an error
message is output.
3.
Set the baud rate to 500 kBit/s
using the DIP switches on the
terminal extension.
Setting:
4.
Switch on the PC and the power
supply for the terminal extension.
5.
Start the GDC program.
The dialog box Search CAN drives opens.
6.
In the dialog box Search CAN drives
click on Search.
GDC identifies the terminal extension and loads
automatically the suitable device description.

If no device was found, check the communication
parameters in GDC (

Setting: see manual "Global
Drive Control − First steps"):
– The driver for the system bus (CAN) must be
selected.
– For the versions 33.9374IB.0B.01,
33.9374IB.0C.02 and 33.9374IB.0C.05, parameter
channel 1 must be selected. Parameter channel 2
is not available.
– From version 33.9374IB.1A.10 parameter channel
1 and 2 are available. A selection is not necessary.
– Have GDC search again for the terminal
extension.
