Starting From Platform Control Box
Before you begin to operate the MHP12/34J from
the platform control box, a qualified operator must
perform the "Daily Inspection and Maintenance" as
described in chapter 7, of this manual.
To start the engine from the platform control box
you must first set some switches on the ground con-
trol box, including setting the outriggers and level-
ing the machine.
(See page 8-2 for information on setting the
stabilizers)
1. Insert the key
into the Master Key Switch
at the ground control box and turn the key on
(see Figure 8.4).

(see Figure 8.6).
5. Turn the Anti-Restart switch
to ON (see
Figure 8.6).
6. If the engine is at ambient temperature (cold),
hold the Choke Switch
(see Figure 8.6) up
throughout the next step.
7. Turn the Anti-Restart switch
to START
and hold it there until the engine starts or for
a maximum time of 6 seconds. When the
engine starts, release the key (6) and the
choke switch
, if you used it (see Figure

If the engine does not start in 6 seconds, turn
the Anti-Restart switch OFF.and release the
choke. Wait 60 seconds before trying to
restart the engine again. Continual cranking
of the starter motor will only result in its
damage.
The engine should now be running, and the
MHP12/34J is ready to begin work.
