Restoring Your Computer’s Software
Use the Software Install and Restore discs that came with your computer to reinstall
Mac OS X, applications, or Classic support. Some models of eMac come with a series of
Software Install CDs and another series of Software Restore CDs, and some models
come with a single series of Software Install and Restore DVDs.
To restore all of your computer’s software:

Follow the instructions below to reinstall Mac OS X, then follow the instructions to
reinstall applications and Classic support.
Reinstalling Mac OS X

Back up essential files, if possible.

Insert the first Software Install and Restore disc (or the first Software Install disc) that
came with your computer.

Double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

After selecting the destination disk for installation, click Options and continue following
the onscreen instructions.
Reinstalling Applications and Classic Support
To reinstall applications and Classic support if your eMac came with two
Software Install and Restore DVDs:

Back up essential files, if possible.

Insert the first Software Install and Restore disc that came with your computer.
3
Double-click the “Install Applications and Classic Support” icon.
4
Follow the onscreen instructions.
To reinstall applications and Classic support if your eMac came with multiple
Software Install and Software Restore CDs:

Back up essential files, if possible.
2
Insert the first Software Restore disc. Double-click the “SoftwareRestore.pkg” icon to
install the Software Restore application.
3
Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer’s software.
Note: iCal, iChat AV, iMovie, iPhoto, iSync, iTunes, and Safari are part of Mac OS X. To
install them you must follow the directions for installing Mac OS X (above).
