3.8 Sharing Media Files
There are two basic ways to share your media files with other family members and friends.
•
You can create additional user accounts, allowing these users to access all of the files in the
Public directory as well as the media files in the Albums section. It’s also possible to make use
of the guest account for local users that connect via SMB or users that connect remotely via
FTP.
•
You can use the built-in Cooliris plug-in to create a 3D picture wall of your images and send the
link to your friends and family, allowing them to view the files in their web browser. This works
even for users that do not have their own account and is suitable for those that are not familiar
with SMB and FTP.
3.8.1 Public Folder
Files that are stored within the Public folder can be accessed by anyone who has access to your
network drive.
•
Files can be viewed and managed via SMB or FTP connection (guest account).
•
Media files can be viewed by UPnP-AV and DLNA clients that are connected to the same local
network.
•
For users who have an account on this system, files can be managed via web browser.
