Removing the Differential Center
2.6.1
A
IFS Clamshell Differential Center Removal
Remove all bolts from around the outside of the clamshell.
Gently pry the clamshell apart and remove the differential center.
NOTE :
The differential center is heavy and quite difficult to
handle when covered in oil. Take care not to drop it.

Live Axle Differential Center Removal
Remove both adjuster nut locking tabs.
Loosen both bearing caps.
Loosen the adjuster nuts enough to remove the differential center.
Remove the bearing caps and tapered roller bearing cups.
HINT : Be sure not to mix up the bearing cups. Later it will be
necessary to match the bearing cups to their cones.
Carefully remove the differential center.
NOTE :
The differential center is heavy and quite difficult to
handle when covered in oil. Take care not to drop it.
