The following figure shows the computer’s left side.
The left side of the computer
Display latch This latch secures the LCD panel in its closed
position. Slide the latch to open the display.
Microphone Microphone (built-in) lets you record sounds into
your applications. Refer to the
Sound System
section in Chapter 4, Operating Basics.

Security lock slot A security cable attaches to this slot. The
optional security cable anchors your computer to
a desk or other large object to deter theft.
Cooling vents Cooling vents help CPU keep from overheating.
Do not block the cooling vents and ensure that you keep foreign objects
out of them. A pin or similar object can damage the computer’s circuitry.

Communication
switch This switch turns the Wireless LAN functions on
and off.
Set the switch to off in airplanes and hospitals. Check the wireless
communication indicator. It will stop glowing when the wireless
communication function is off.
