Console
Configuration
To manually configure the IntraSwitch 5308FL with an IP 
address via the unit’s Console port, use a VT100 terminal or a 
VT100 terminal emulator running on a workstation or personal 
computer (PC) to connect to the IntraSwitch 5308FL’s Local 
Management Interface.

Using a straight-through RS-232 cable with a 9-pin 
male D-subminiature plug at one end, connect a 
terminal or workstation (PC) running a terminal 
emulator to the 
Console port on the front of the
IntraSwitch 5308FL.

Important!
If you are using a Macintosh, you
need a special cable to connect to the 
IntraSwitch 5308FL’s Console port. Contact 
Asanté Technical Support (see Appendix E) for 
assistance.

Make sure both units’ power is turned on.
If using a PC with a terminal emulator, make 
sure it is configured with the following terminal 
settings:
❏ Bits Per Second: 9600 
❏ Data Bits: 8
❏ Parity: None
❏ Stop Bits: 1
❏ Flow Control: None
