u Shutter-Priority Auto
In shutter-priority auto, you choose the shutter speed while the
camera automatically selects the aperture that will produce the
optimal exposure. Use slow shutter speeds to suggest motion by
blurring moving subjects, fast shutter speeds to “freeze” motion.
Choosing a Shutter Speed
Rotate the main command dial right for
faster shutter speeds, left for slower shut-
ter speeds. Choose from values between
30 s and
1 /
4000
s. The electronic shutter,
which can be enabled either by selecting
On for Silent photography in the setup
menu (
0 212) or by choosing a frame rate
of 10, 20, 30, or 60 fps in continuous
shooting mode (
0 92), supports shutter
speeds as fast as 1 /
16,000
s; the slowest shut-
ter speed available with the electronic
shutter is 30 s (silent photography) or
1 /
60
s
(10, 20, 30, and 60 fps continuous).

A Continuous Shooting
The selected shutter speed may change when a frame rate of 10 fps or
faster is selected in continuous shooting mode (
