Installing the Batteries (continued)
Installing the Batteries
6. If using 2 cell LiFePo batteries, continue to hold the button until the
LED flashes 3 times. After the LED flashes 3 times, release the button to
select LiFePo battery type.
This process generally only takes a few seconds, and is designed to
prevent the danger of accidental changes to the battery type setting. Once
selected, the battery type is permanently stored in the PowerSafe Evolution,
and can only be changed by following the previous procedure.
Programming the Voltage Regulators
The voltage output of the regulators can be set to either 5.9 or 7.4 volts. To
program the voltage output, use the following procedure:
1. Power on the PowerSafe Evolution.
2. Unplug the battery(s) from the PowerSafe Evolution.
3. Press and hold the Set button on the Sensor Switch.
4. Plug either battery 1 or 2 into the PowerSafe Evolution.
5. The 3 LED’s on the battery being programmed will flash 3 times to
indicate 7.4 volts, or flash 1 time to indicate 5.9V. Repeat this procedure
for both batteries. (Both battery 1 and battery 2 must be programmed to
the same setting if both are to be used).
External LED’s
Ultra-bright external LED’s are included and can be connected to the
PowerSafe Evolution. When mounted externally on the fuselage side, they
will light up while the model is in flight. The LED’s allow you to detect
possible battery problems such as low voltage, indicating you should land
immediately and investigate the problem.
