Back-to-Back Installation
Make sure you understand the following when doing a back-to-back
installation.
❑
During installation, setup, and testing of back-to-back media
converters, make sure each media converter is in the Link Test mode.
❑
When two media converters are connected back-to-back over single
mode fiber with no multimode cables connected, and when the NML/
LNK TST switch is in the OUT position (Link Test mode), the single
mode fiber REC LEDs on each converter might flash. This is normal
and will not affect the normal operation of the converters.
❑
When operating two media converters in a back-to-back configuration,
Allied Telesyn recommends that the MissingLink feature on one or
both of the converters be disabled. The MissingLink feature can be
disabled by placing the NML/LNK TST switch in the OUT position
(LNK TST Mode). Disabling the Link Test mode does not interfere
with the converter’s ability to pass network traffic.
