The Front-End configuration is available only upon request. Please contact your Allied Telesis
representative for details.
Note:
Anonymous FTP is used by the NMS to manage certain devices, and therefore must be
enabled on the Backend server. Refer to Appendix A for instructions.
3.2 Installing on a Windows Platform
Note:
Prior to beginning the installation, obtain the IP address for the existing AlliedView NMS Back
End Server.
3.2.1 Initial Installation on a Front End Server
The software for a Front End server installation comes in a separate CD, and so can only be used to install a
Front End server. To install the AlliedView NMS Front End on a Windows platform, follow these steps:
1.
Insert the Distributed Server Extensions installation CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. After approximately
60 seconds, the NMS InstallShield

Wizard Installer screen will appear.
2.
On the Installer screen, click Next. This will display the license agreement page.
3.
Carefully read the license agreement, click the I accept the terms of the license agreement radio button,
and then click Next.
Note:
If you do not wish to proceed with the installation, click Cancel to exit.
The next screen, shown in the following figure, will specify the installation directory.
