When viewing an
input, the image is
completely black or
white, but the
identification text
appears.
• Badly adjusted camera
iris
• Try and adjust the camera iris until a clear image
appears.
The video image is
correctly displayed,
but without
identification text
• Error in text setting
• Check the identification text menu to see if there is
actually a text setting for the input on screen.
The identification
texts are displayed
too high or too low
• Error in video code
configuration
• Enter the menu to check the video code setting:
PAL or NTSC. If the PAL system is used, an error
setting in NTSC will shift the identification texts.
Vice versa, if an NTSC system is used, an error
setting in PAL will cause the identification texts to
be lowered.
During OSM
programming the lines
are compressed and
half the screen
appears distorted.
• Error in OSM Video
setting
• Some types of monitor have problems with non-
interlaced video signals. Set Interlaced: YES. In
any case this setting has no effect during normal
matrix operation.
The alarms do not
trigger
• Alarm contact not used
• Error in alarms setting
• Make sure the Type of alarm is not: Not Used (set
the alarm to N.O. or N.C.)
• For the alarm NO setting, make sure that, when
there is an alarm, the alarm pin closes with the
common alarm pin. And for the alarm N.C. setting,
make sure that the alarm causes the common
alarm and specific alarm pins to open.
The keyboard does
not reset the alarms
• The alarm contact setting
cannot be reset by the
keyboard.
• Change the alarm or alarm settings in question by
entering the menu item: Reset / Keyboard: YES.
There is no buzzer
when the alarm
triggers
• Alarm buzzer disabled
• Go to the Alarms menu and modify each individual
alarm that is to trigger the Buzzer (item Enable
Buzzer: YES). The same holds for the alarm relay
(item Enable relay: YES).

The SM42A / SM82A matrix requires no particular maintenance. We recommend its use on a solid base,
with the power supply and connection cables arranged so as not to get in the way of the operator.
