HEAVY DUTY CV AXLES – Pontiac GTO

Part # CV001

1. Lift vehicle and support with stands under the cradle allowing the rear wheels to hang. Set emergency

brake.

2. Using a 5/16” or 8mm Allen head socket, remove all

24 bolts that attach the CV shaft; there are 6 at each
end of the shaft. Remove the CV shafts.

3. Once the shafts have been removed, remove the dust

end caps from each end. It is necessary to replace the
dust caps from the BMR HD CV’s with the dust caps
from the OE CV’s. (See Image 1 for identifying the
proper end caps). Failure to do this will not allow the
CV’s to mate properly with their hubs.

4. Apply blue Loctite to the threads of the new

mounting hardware and re-install the new CV shafts. It may be necessary to lift the wheels in order to
get the bolts started.

5. Torque all 24 bolts to 45 ft/lbs.
6. Lower vehicle.
