Troubleshooting Examples for SMM
Example 1
PROBLEM:
Why does only TSISMMS0 start and the other SMM processes don't?
SOLUTION:
This could be an SMM configuration issue concerning the HOME TERM. Issue a 'RUN
CONFIG' from the subvolume that the SMM Server and/or Client is installed in. Once
the password is entered, issue a 'VIEW_CONFIG' to see if the HOME TERM is
configured. If not, configure the HOME TERM as instructed in Section 3 of this
manual. The HOME TERM can be any valid terminal. On the NonStop S-series, it is
recommended to use $ZHOME. On the K-series systems, it is recommended to use
the name of the system home terminal, i.e. $TRM0.#A.
Example 2
PROBLEM:
Why does TSISMMS2 crash upon startup?
SOLUTION:
If the SCSI ID of the silo [should be SCSI ID 5] is not the same as the NonStop
definition then this will happen. Reconfigure the silo with the correct SCSI ID number
[SCSI ID 5].
Example 3
PROBLEM:
Why does TSISMMS3 die when I start SMM?
SOLUTION:
Normally, this will happen if the ZTSSOBJ file was not downloaded as part of the SMM
install. Download the ZTSSOBJ file using the FTP function in the GUI to the proper
SMM subvolume, then restart SMM.
