Multiple servers/single network/two switches
The diagram below shows the rear-panel of two P2000 G3 FC/iSCSI MSA System controller enclosures
featuring 2/4/8Gb FC connections and 1Gb iSCSI connections; either interface type can perform both
I/O and replication on the same network. Alternatively, one interface type — for example FC — might be
used for I/O, and the other interface type — in this case iSCSI — might be used for replication.

For iSCSI-based replication, the iSCSI ports should be connected to at least one iSCSI switch. For optimal
protection, use two switches, with one iSCSI port from each controller connected to the first switch, and the
other iSCSI port from each controller connected to the second switch. Both switches should be connected to
a single IP network. Using two iSCSI switches in tandem avoids the potential single point of failure inherent
to using a single iSCSI switch.
Dual controller configuration
The following illustrations provide conceptual examples of cabling to support Remote Snap replication.
Once the P2000 G3 MSA Systems are physically cabled, see the SMU reference guide or online help for
information about configuring, provisioning, and using the optional Remote Snap feature.
