4.21 Troubleshooting the Policy Advisor

If a virtual volume cannot be tuned, the reason is displayed. The virtual volumes matching the
analysis criteria are displayed:

4.9 Troubleshooting the Policy Advisor
■ If a large number of tuning operations are suggested, it might be beneficial to run some of
the tuning operations, let them complete, and then re-run Policy Advisor. It is possible that
changes to the system configuration made by earlier tuning operations might affect the
later tuning operations.
■ If suggested tuning operations start to fail, stop the Policy Advisor script and then re-run it.
Most likely, something on the system has changed since the script started. Stop and re-run
the script to see if new tuning operations are suggested with the current configuration.
■ The script always starts with the smallest virtual volumes first to attempt to free space on
more heavily used physical disks. This gives tuning operations on larger virtual volumes a
better chance of improving the layout. If there is very little space on the system, space
needs to be freed up before Policy Advisor will be effective.
