Analyze the results displayed by the Policy Advisor. You should carefully review the
suggestions before running any suggested tuning operations.

4.6 Understanding the Policy Advisor Analysis Process
The Policy Advisor script has two phases of operation.
Analysis Phase
■
Checks for failed and degraded Physical Disks (PDs). You should correct any reported faults
before tuning.
■
Excludes virtual volumes with tuning operations in progress.
■
Excludes virtual volumes split between CPGs, virtual volumes split between CPGs must be
tuned manually.
Generating Tuning Suggestions Phase
■
Simulates tuning operations on specified virtual volumes to verify they will work.
■
Presents tuning suggestions.
■
For specified virtual volumes that provision space directly from Logical Disks (LD):

Analyzes layouts for specified virtual volumes. Reports any virtual volumes for which the
layout can be improved.
◆
If RAID type, set size, HA etc. specified, note virtual volumes not meeting the
parameters.
■
For specified virtual volumes that belong to a CPG:
◆
Analyzes virtual volume to LD mappings. Analyzes the LD layout to see if it can be
improved. If the layout can be improved, reports all virtual volumes that belong to
inefficiently laid out LDs.
NOTE: Use the
Ctrl-C
command to cancel the Policy Advisor script.
