Managing Open SCSI Devices
Example of a STATUS SCSI Detailed Report
SCSI I/O Process Information
This SCSI I/O process information is provided in the detailed report produced by the
STATUS SCSI, DETAIL command:
SIM Queue Status
shows the current status of the SCSI interface module
(SIM) queue. The status can be FROZEN or
UNFROZEN. When the SIM Queue Status is FROZEN,
the application is responsible for the error recovery
process. The rules of operation when the SIM queue is
frozen are:
•
This condition prevents normal I/O operations.
•
The IOP can initiate an I/O recovery operation while
the SIM queue is frozen.
•
Operations that have the SIM queue priority flag set
can be dispatched while the SIM queue is frozen.
•
The freeze is allowed for only 10 seconds. (A 10
second timer starts when the SIM queue has an
application-related freeze. If the application does not
release the SIM queue before the timer times out,
the IOP automatically releases the SIM queue.)
•
The freeze-disable flag for the SIM queue thaws the
SIM queue only if the flag appears in a request from
the same process that froze the SIM queue.
Max Transfer Length
shows the maximum transfer length (in bytes) allowed by
the Open SCSI IOP.
Tracing Level
shows the current tracing level used by the Open SCSI
IOP.
Device Type
shows the Open SCSI device type. Open SCSI devices are
always type 8.
Device Subtype
shows the Open SCSI device subtype. Currently, the device
subtype must be 0.
Physical Record
Size
shows the size in bytes of the physical records on the Open
SCSI device. This value is retrieved from the Open SCSI IOP.
Priority
shows the current execution priority of the Open SCSI IOP.
Library File
this entry is always blank. Currently there is no library file for
the Open SCSI IOP.
Program File
shows the program file name of the Open SCSI IOP.
