1.
Optionally schedule a Run Discovery Data Collection operation to refresh all HP Storage
Essentials SRM element data. This operation should be scheduled to run at off-peak hours when
SAP ACC Integration is not being used.
2.
Perform a manual Run Discovery Data Collection operation after any manual changes on the
storage array or Managed Nodes.
Failed Mount Operation with HP-UX Hosts
If a mount or dismount operation fails to complete for any reason (for example, array locked by
another user, etc.), verify that no directory mount points and/or volume group directories were
created on the destination host as a result of the operation. Depending on how far the operation
(mount, dismount) progressed, some of the required directories may have been created before the
operation failed. If any of the directories were created, you should delete them before trying the
same command again, since further attempts may result in failure because some of the directories
are already present. The HP SE SAP ACC Integration log will also contain a related message to help
troubleshoot the failure.
HP-UX 11.23 Maximum Number of Volume Groups Limitation
By default, HP-UX 11.23 is configured to support only 10 volume groups. To support multiple SAP
instances on the same server, it may be required to support more than 10 volume groups on the
same server at the same time. To avoid any errors during relocation operations, it is recommended
that you increase this value to be able to support the maximum number of anticipated volume
groups on the server.
The maximum number of volume groups is determined by the maxvgs parameter and can be
modified by using the kctune command.
The following command lines can be used to view and change the value of this parameter:
•
To display the current value of the maxvgs parameter:
kctune -v maxvgs
•
To increase the value of the maxvgs parameter:
kctune +=
where number is the number of additional volume groups to be supported.
NOTE:
A system reboot is necessary before the change will be implemented.
NOTE:
HP-UX 11.31 does not have this default volume group limitation.
