Antenna
— Extend fully or retract fully to use
handset. Extend fully to maximize the handset range
and voice quality.

Receiver
— Receives the sound of your caller’s
voice, unless a headset is connected.

Handset Display with Backlighting
— Displays
status of lines and range as well as system and local
programming messages. For a detailed description,

Four Softkeys/Column Buttons
— Use together
with Select-Row button to choose a line or
programmable/intercom/drop button.

Menu Button
— Press to enter/exit Menu Mode.

Select-Row Button
— Use to move the Select-
Row arrow, and, together with the Column buttons, to
choose a line or programmable/intercom/drop button.
Also used to “wake-up” the phone.

Dial Pad
— The usual 12-button dial pad for placing
calls or accessing features.

Headset Connector
— Plug in the headset adapter
to use the headset.

Hold
— Press to put a call on hold.

Trans (Transfer)
— Press to transfer a call to
another extension.

Conf
(Conference) — Press to conference in (add)
another person to your call.

Feat/P (Feature/Program)
— Press to access switch-dependent features or to enter Programming
Mode. (Exit for 9040 DCP only.)

(On/Off)
— Press to turn the handset on.

Redial Button
— Press to redial the last number manually dialed from the handset.

Volume Control

— Press to turn the handset microphone off for privacy.

Lanyard Loop
— Attach an (optional) lanyard for carrying the handset.
