97947 – HID Lights

2010+ BRP Commander/Renegade

-

You will be working with a few small parts. A clean workspace is very important for
properly functioning HID lights.

-

Be very careful when working with HID light bulbs and ballast.

o NEVER TOUCH BULB! If bulb has been touched, clean with paper towel and

acetone to remove skin oil. Even if you can’t see it, your bulb will crack within a
few hours of use.

o NEVER TURN ON BALLAST WITHOUT BULB CONNECTED! If you do 23,000 volts

will be looking for somewhere to go. If it finds you, it makes 120ac house
voltage seem like a pinprick. Take our word for it; your arm will hurt all day.

-

Remove all parts from the kit and read through the instructions. There are 3 main
components to the HID kit. The bulbs, the ballast and the wiring harness. It is a good
idea to mock everything up to check wire length and clearance issues.

-

BRP's have 1 bulb for high and one bulb for low. Take a look and figure out which side
is low and high and what side to install the hid system.

-

Remove the stock bulb and unplug the OEM wiring

-

Remove plastic case from HID bulb being careful not to touch the bulb. Insert HID bulb
into the headlight reflector and turn approximately 1/3 of a turn until it locks.

-

Mount ballast using self tapping screws or zip ties anywhere securely to the vehicle.
The ballast can get wet and don’t need direct airflow.

-

Using the wiring pigtails find the stock wiring on each side and plug in the OEM plug
into wiring harness. Each side will need 1 bulb, ballast and adapter.

-

Plug ballast plugs into ballast, taking care to plug in with correct polarity. They should
only go in correctly with a ramped clip retainer on one side, but they can be forced
incorrectly.
