Cleaning Scanner Path
To ensure the best possible scanning quality, paper lint and dust should be
cleaned from the area around the contact image sensor periodically.
To clean the scanner path, open the control panel and gently wipe the area
over the scanner (1) as shown below.
Reading Counters
Three counters are accessible to machine operators: drum, printing and
scanning. The first tracks drum usage and can be reset each time the image
drum unit is replaced. The latter two keep track of the number of pages
printed and scanned by the machine over its lifetime. If a problem is
experienced with the machine, a service representative may ask for these
counters to be checked (see ”Counters” on page Chapter 4-15).
