2-2 Windows 2000 Advanced Server Installation
What You Need
You can use EXPRESSBUILDER
to
reinstall the Windows 2000 Advanced
Server operating system if it becomes corrupted or unusable. To reinstall
Windows 2000 Advanced Server, you need the following:

EXPRESSBUILDER CD
!
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server CD
!
Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 CD and above.
Initial Setup
Perform the following initial setup before doing the Windows 2000 Advanced
Server installation.
1. Connect the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and any other peripherals.

CAUTION
OS installation must be performed with only PCI module #1
installed and with only one hard disk drive installed in slot #1
of PCI module #1. Otherwise, the keyboard, mouse and
additional hard disk drives may not be recognized..
2. Remove PCI module #2 from the server. Refer to Chapter 4 of your user’s
guide for information on removing PCI modules.
3. Remove hard disk drives installed in slots #2 and #3 of PCI module #1.
Refer to Chapter 4 of your user’s guide for information on removing hard
disk drives from PCI modules.
4. Remove any optional PCI boards installed in PCI module #1. Refer to
Chapter 4 of your user’s guide for information on removing PCI option
boards.
5. Remove any LAN cables connected to the server.
6. Power up the server and its peripherals.
7. At the startup screen, when prompted, press
F2
to enter the BIOS Setup and
disable Boot Monitoring.

Select
Advanced
on the BIOS Setup Main Menu.

Select
Monitoring Configuration
on the Advanced window and press
Enter
.
!
Select
Boot Monitoring
and change the setting to
Disabled
to disable
Boot Monitoring.
