Setting Up the Printer
1.
Make sure the power switch is set to 0 (OFF).
2.
Verify that the site line voltage is the same as the voltage specified in
“Check the Power Requirements” section, page 2–3.
3.
Connect the power cord (supplied with the printer) to the AC power
connector on the printer. (See Figure 2–12.)
NOTE: To prevent electrical interference, separate the AC power cord and
the interface cable.
4.
Connect the opposite end of the power cord to the AC line receptacle.
5.
Turn on the printer by setting the power switch to | (on). (See Figure
2–13.)
6.
When you power on the printer, the following occurs:

The printer reads the emulation and displays the message:
“Testing Hardware Please Wait...”
All three indicators are lit continuously.
d.
If there are no bootup errors, the LCD displays “Diagnostics
Passed.”
All three indicators go out.
e.
“Standby...” and “Loading Fonts” appear briefly on the LCD.
f.
The ONLINE indicator lights continuously, and the LCD
displays “ONLINE.”
NOTE: The printer can be set to power on in the OFFLINE state instead of
the ONLINE state. To print, ONLINE must be lit; if it is not, press
ONLINE.
If other messages and prompts appear on the control panel, answer
the prompts and follow the directions as explained in Table 3-1 ,
“Flash Messages” on page 3–60.
