How to Play a Disc
With a disc already loaded into the MVP851, press the
PLAY Push-button on the front panel of the MVP851 or
Remote Control. Refer to figures 52 and 53.

Note: When a DVD Video or Audio Disc is first started,

the Disc’s On-Screen Menu will usually appear
allowing for the choice of selections and various
Audio/Video Playback Parameters. A CD Disc will
start playing the first selection on the disc.

The MVP851 has a built-in Play/Resume feature. This

allows stopping the playback of a disc at any time and then
resuming from where it stopped.

1. To activate Resume/Play, press STOP Push-button

once. The disc time at that instant will be memorized.

2. Press the PLAY Push-button again and it will resume

playing from the time where it had previously stopped
playing.

3. If the player is put in Standby Mode by pressing the

Standby/On Push-button, Play/Resume memory will be
retained. Press the PLAY Push-button again and the
player will switch On and resume Play from the time it
left off.

Note: The Play/Resume Memory will be erased if the disc

tray is opened or AC Power is interrupted to the
MVP851.

How to Pause a Disc
This feature allows the temporary stopping of disc play-
back. Refer to figure 50.

1. When playing a Disc, press the PAUSE Push-button

to temporarily stop playback.

Note: After the Pause Feature is activated, with a DVD-

Video Disc in the MVP851, each additional press of

the PAUSE Push-
button will permit the
video to advance one
frame at a time.

REV(Reverse)

the Rapid Frame Ad-
vance.

Note: If the FF(Fast

Forward) or
REV(Reverse)
Push-button is
pressed several
times, the speed

Advance will
increase. An
On-Screen Icon
is available to
assist during the
Rapid Frame
Advance Mode
